Tall Boots: Should I go brown?

So last week I told the story of the best Christmas present ever that wasn't meant to be.

There is a small silver lining to this story, which is that my husband is still committed to getting me a pricey (for us) horse-related Christmas gift.

And I have the perfect idea.

Yeah.

I currently ride in synthetic tall boots. I know, I know. At the time I bought them, they were the best option available on a lot of fronts. They've served me well - far, far better than I have deserved. But I've known for some time now that tall boots would have to be my next pricey equestrian purchase.

Lo and behold, the COTH forums adore these particular boots - HKM Spain Field Boots

But here's why I want them: they come in brown.

I have long coveted a pair of brown field boots. Serious covet. Desperate, starry-eyed, covet.

But now that I am in a position to pull the trigger, I am having second thoughts. I think about matching brown field boots to things, and I think about possibly showing. My black tall boots are not dead yet entirely - they could serve for showing.

But will I be that weirdo? I already have a silver helmet.

In case you couldn't tell, I am not a big risk-taker when it comes to color...

  1. I really like my brown boots but they definitely aren't as easy to match / show worthy.

  2. I was just having these thoughts, too. Brown. Brown everything.

  3. I also covet brown tall boots. I don't care if they end up looking strange. I'd be happy to just stare at them for extended periods of time.

  4. I have brown and they look great with about 50% of my riding outfits. The other 50% is a mix of "black would have been better" and "shield your eyes from the awfulness of T's outfit" So, my only word of warning: if you're at all like me and not that into planning outfits to match your boots, black is probably a better choice :)

  5. I have always wanted brown boots. Don't have them because I'm cheap and hard to fit. DO IT!!

  6. I think they look so super classy!

  7. I have seen them in person - they fit best on someone who is a little bit short with thicker ankles. Not a super slim cut. The color is good though. Divoza has a couple models in brown around that price range as well.

  8. If you go brown, I'm going to be very distracted if I'm around while you're riding, and I can't be held responsible if I drool.

I have plans for Crumble's future show outfit to be all brown tack, and you can bet brown dress boots are included in that picture ;) Someday...if I have money...

  9. I love brown boots. And I love brown boots with black tops. I think brown boots look incredible, even with black saddles or brown tack. I think everybody should own brown boots. GET THE BROWN BOOTS!!!

  10. I am not a trustworthy source since I blinged my helmet, but I think you should ride in what makes you happy.
