They asked 8 million times if I'd ever been pregnant, which is an emphatic NO, and we finally just decided that at some point one of my riding falls (or skiing falls, or any number of dumb things I've done to my body) had caused abdominal trauma that created them. And I guess if you're prone to them you're always going to be at a higher risk.

And I think it was actually my intestines that moved, not the adhesions. I don't entirely understand the anatomy of it, to be honest.Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16071037752920853786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8751398798342994168.post-42049367569370478872016-04-12T14:26:22.319-04:002016-04-12T14:26:22.319-04:00Ha! So the morning after my surgery, when my surgeon came in with his pack of residents, he said "Oh, this is a really interesting case, actually..." and they all immediately said "Oh, we know!" I guess the picture of my intestines got texted around. Doctors! (My father-in-law is a PCP and my other was an ER nurse for most of my life so I totally get it!) Also, he printed out a copy for me to take home and it is in my filing cabinet at home.Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16071037752920853786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8751398798342994168.post-46348401731495090902016-04-12T14:18:01.388-04:002016-04-12T14:18:01.388-04:00Happy birthday Tristan! He would totally be the sort of doctor to high five you for riding, then whip out his phone, swipe past the photos of your insides, and show you a million pictures of Pig and the dogs. True story, he frequently asks me to send him new photos of the horse so he can share them with patients. It's pretty cute. (But, don't tell him I said that.)Austenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13004088333430762406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8751398798342994168.post-15742902311996493012016-04-12T12:35:01.712-04:002016-04-12T12:35:01.712-04:00Oh! Except mine weren't strangling my intestines, they were just making everything pain in a dull, chronic sort of way. I'm kind of interested in why yours was in a position to move around, when I had to have mine cut away. Did your doc give you an explanation for the cause of the adhesions? I've never gotten more than "some people get them".
