Honestly, I was more frustrated that I was going to be late to my next appointment. At this point, if the car gets totaled it won't break my heart. It's on its way out.

Sorry to re-ignite your fear!Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16071037752920853786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8751398798342994168.post-8538010393132180362014-01-14T16:04:49.825-05:002014-01-14T16:04:49.825-05:00And now my fears of car fire have been reinstated....And now my fears of car fire have been reinstated. Less than ideal. I've done the driving with the heat on thing, though - I had to do it in a previous truck to keep the engine from overheating. All summer. And the windows were stuck up. It was a long summer.

Straightness is our biggest problem right now. Our previous trainer always always wanted more bend and that has resulted in over-dependence on the bend, especially on a circle. Current barn is much more of a classic dressage background, so: straight! All the time!Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16071037752920853786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8751398798342994168.post-83124465080312242892014-01-14T14:00:55.859-05:002014-01-14T14:00:55.859-05:00It really, really was. Luckily turning off the car...It really, really was. Luckily turning off the car basically eliminated the problem - the clutch in the AC had given way and the rubber belt was melting and sparking and causing huge plumes of smoke to pour out from underneath my hood. I had just left the barn after sneaking away in the middle of a 16 hour day at work...so I really could not afford to spend all day dealing with it! Once I popped the hood, several helpful mechanics/farmers gathered around and we jointly diagnosed the problem, discovered that turning the AC off fixed it, and I was on my way again within 20 minutes.Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16071037752920853786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8751398798342994168.post-26682554445656505442014-01-14T12:06:54.870-05:002014-01-14T12:06:54.870-05:00Eeep Car fire!! Had smoke coming from the hood once, turned out to be steam from a cracked coolant lid or something (don't quite remember except we had to run the heater with the windows down to keep the damn thing from over heating)

Straightness lessons are some of the hardest! Good news: the way they reconfigured the belts to get rid of the sticking pulley problem has bypassed the AC entirely (hence why he asked) so even if I accidentally turn it on I no longer have to worry about it catching fire again.

The exercises were really really good - that's one thing I love about this particular trainer, is that she gives great homework. I feel like my toolbox grows by leaps and bounds every time I ride with her.Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16071037752920853786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8751398798342994168.post-67149210333628987172014-01-14T10:47:20.516-05:002014-01-14T10:47:20.516-05:00Is this where I confess my thought process back wh...Is this where I confess my thought process back when you told me the a/c had caught fire?
- I thought the a/c was already broken on that car.
- No, wait, I'm thinking of the truck.
- The a/c on the little car works (or used to). It's the radio that doesn't.
- And the truck has a working radio, but no a/c. Right-o.
And only then did I move onto whatever it was that I actually said in response. :-p

Lesson sounds great -- I am going to steal some of those exercises!Hannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12237668899993749427noreply@blogger.com
